Privacy policy
This policy explains what CompassPad collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the directory, accounts, and the analytics we run.

What we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run a directory with accounts and voting.
- Account details you provide: your email address and, optionally, a display name.
- Listing details you submit: the project name, URL, description, category, tags, and any images you upload.
- Votes and comments: the listing you voted on or commented on, and the time you did it.
- A hashed request identifier used to count one vote per visitor and to rate-limit abuse. It is derived from your network address and is not stored in a form that identifies you.
What we do not collect
We do not sell personal data. We do not run third-party advertising networks on this site. We do not build cross-site tracking profiles of our own.
We do use Google Analytics to measure traffic. What that involves, and how to opt out, is described under Analytics below.
Cookies
We set one essential cookie when you sign in so the site knows which account is yours. Without it you cannot stay signed in.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell one browser apart from another. These are used for traffic measurement only. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not run ad networks on this site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-RLLMJYL2J0) to understand how the catalog is used: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what kind of device they use. Google acts as a processor for this data on our behalf.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish one visitor from another. The data we see is aggregated into reports; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with your account.
Google may process this data on servers outside your country. Google's own handling of it is described in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics in several ways: install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, block the analytics script with a content blocker, or use your browser's tracking protections. The site works normally without it. Because we do not show advertising, there is no ad personalisation to disable.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it. Deleting your account removes your votes and comments; published listings you submitted are removed from the directory.
To make a request, email us from the address on your account.
Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, the personal data attached to it is removed. Aggregate counts that no longer identify anyone may be retained.
Children
CompassPad is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
